Rotary Club of Greater Long Branch

 kicks off Summer in a Big Way.

IT’S BEEN AN ACTIVE MONTH for the Rotary Club of Greater Long Branch with many activities underway that include community based projects, ceremonial rites of passage, combined with good will and fellowship.

                        ANNUAL SCHOLOARSHIP AWARD

The Club handed out its annual scholarship award for 2014. The award went to 6 deserving students – three each from Shore Regional High School and Long Branch High School. The awarded funds can be used for tuition, books and other critical supplies to help area students and families pay for the high cost of college.  The recipients included: Jordan Hayes, Kathleen Sempkowski and Bailey Warder from Shore Regional, and Ka'trell Andrews, Gabriela Lugos,and Justiss McKinney from Long Branch High School.

PAINT PARTY! Rotarians and Friends Paint the Ronald McDonald House on June 21^st. ​

                        RONALD McDONALD GETS A NEW FACE

Over the weekend’s of June 14th and June 21^st, Club members and other volunteers gathered on the grounds of The Ronald McDonald House armed with paint brushes, rollers, paint and power washers. The end result was that the structure was given a beautiful and much needed paint job.

The Ronald McDonald House offers a welcoming, supportive environment for families during a time of uncertainty and stress. Family members can stay together in a comfortable home with private rooms and many amenities, helping them to remain strong throughout the course of their child’s treatment.

NEW PRESIDENT OF RCGLB: Lex Tucci installs Brian Berry as new Club President and Mike Ciavolino as President Elect. ​

NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

The new President of the Rotary Club of Greater Long Branch for 2014- 2015 is Mr. Brian Berry. Brian is a Vice President, Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo and has deep roots in the community where he has a long track record of fundraising and community support activities.

In addition to his role as President of the Club, Brian is also President of the Waves of Hope Foundation.  Waves of Hope raises funds and awareness for organizations such as the Pediatrics Center at Monmouth Medical, the Cancer Institute of N.J., and Project Assist, which helps local families in distress.

The Club would like to thank outgoing President Mika Hon, owner of NJ Ink Shop for his tireless service and commitment during his year as President. Mr. Hon’s tenure included successful stewardship of the Art Show Fundraiser, his concept and the Club’s signature fundraising event, a successful food drive, helping to grow the Club’s membership and many other community-based activities.
