Last night Luciana and I attended Long Branch High School's scholarship awards dinner.  Shannon Nutley was our recipient.What a wonderful, gracious and accomplished young lady. On 6/7 we will be the awarding Kofi Kwa at Shore Regional High School.  The students and their families and counselors will be joining us at lunch on June 9th to receive their award checks. I look forward to seeing Shannon and her family again and I'm sure I will feel the same about Kofi.

 

Board Meeting 6/6 for Board Members.  My last one as President!

 

6/10 Spring Clean Up with Monmouth County Clean Communities 9am-11am approximately at Stop and Shop location on West End Avenue.  Closed toed shoes and weather appropriate clothes are all that are required. Bring friends, family, kids or anyone else that wants to be involved. *I have a sneaking suspicion there could be a Rotary gathering at Jack's afterward*

 

6/29 Changeover Dinner is Tentatively scheduled at Mar Belo on Broadway as we welcome Luciana as our new President.  More information to come as soon as it's available.  Please make every effort to attend and welcome Luciana.

 

Putting together a fundraiser at Ken's suggestion for Dottie's House serving abused women and children.  We will partner with Conti's Car Wash and will be able to sell car wash tickets for $4.00 each at a cost of $1.00 to the club.  Your participation is appreciated! Details to come.

 

DG David Forward has a new book out "A String of Pearls: Inspiring Stories of How Rotary Peace Fellows are Serving Humanity and Changing the World".  All of the proceeds go to Rotary Foundation Peace Centers Program.

 

Gordon brought  the cutest thank you letters from the two children we will be sending to Camp Moore this summer

 

Ted Friedli hilariously outlined his top ten complaints he has received over the years as a travel agent.

 

Announcements:

Asbury Park Rotary Beach Party will be 7/1

Anyone wanting bocce practice for the clambake and can handle a silly labradoodle, stop on by our house.  We have enough for 3 at a time.  I lost a bocce ball in the ocean a few years ago...oops!

 

Next meeting 6/9 where we will be awarding the scholarship checks to the students.
