Club president elect Gordon Heggie thanks guest speaker Robert Buob, Twin Lights District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Monmouth Council. Robert gave our members a great overview of the Boy Scouts.
Both Twin Lights and Council earned 2017’s Journey to Excellence Gold Award. They were recognized for membership growth, volunteer leadership, community service, and fund development. Twin Lights served 2,408 youth in 2017. The Council had a youth retention rate of 83%, one of the highest Council retention rates in the U.S. The Monmouth Council celebrated 100 years of service to the community.
Robert also spoke about the many programs provided: camping and outdoor education at the Scout reservations, summer camp, developing our youth, community service, training adult volunteers and youth, high adventure, annual national youth leadership training courses and many other innovative programs.
