Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long being thanked by club Pres. Brian Berry

Mayor Long was first elected to borough council in 2003, reelected in 2007 and again in 2009. Became Mayor in Jan 2012. She had big plans until Sandy hit in October 2012.

She mentioned that everyone in Sea Bright worked together to get thru it.

Sea Bright was a disaster area with natural gas leaks, cabanas as projectiles, and debris everywhere.

Gas company told them six months without natural gas possibly.

Chris Wood started an organization called “Sea Bright Rising” He started by feeding the First Responders, the Fire Fighters and the Utility Workers.

Biggest problem was that most of the homes were not up to code in town.

Now, the prevention of future storm damage is the town’s number 1 priority and they are finding out that the cost of rebuilding a fully built out town is extraordinary.

Mayor Long has been appointed to the White House Flood Planning Task Force.

Through Grants and Gifts they have been able to rebuild the dunes and the downtown.

A new hotel, and a revitalized Donavans Reef and Rum Runner are being planned.
