Joe Mamora, Interfaith Neighbors being thanked by Pres. Mika Hon

Pledge: Kris Mistretta

Invocation: Len Kiczek
Guests: Joe Marmora

Mika took the podium and welcomed our guest speaker Joe Marmora from Interfaith Neighbors. He then went on to discuss some Rotary District 7500 events that are coming up.

The first event is the First Annual Rotary Family Picnic. It takes place August 18th at Oak Tree Lodge in Wall. It's a family friendly all you can eat and drink event from 1-6pm. The price is $35 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. The amount of food, games and activities that are going to be there are too extensive to list. This is a wonderful way to promote fun and fellowship in the district and to involve your family and friends.

Next Mika spoke about the district 7500's inaugural fellowship event, a wine appreciation night at Tipperary Pub in Lakehurst. The event is September 27th from 6-10pm and is $30 a person. Mika mentioned Roger Hansen's idea of starting another fellowship event to honor craft beers.

Joe Marmora took the podium next and showed a video presentation that gave a wonderful summary of some the spectacular philanthropic projects that Interfaith Neighbors from Asbury Park is involved in. Their mission is: "as stated in our By-Laws, is to provide rental subsidy to underprivileged persons; to provide meals either in a congregate setting or delivered to the homes of people who are either elderly poor (senior citizen), infirm or seriously ill persons or those who are classified as impoverished; to encourage support and undertake construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing units and other facilities for underprivileged and homeless persons with low incomes and generally to support the needs of underprivileged persons."

Interfaith Neighbors also started Kula Cafe where people can learn job skils to get an edge when looking for employment in the restaurant field. Between federal and local grants, private and corporate donations, and fund raising Interfaith is able to raise roughly a 4 million dollars to help community members in need of food, housing, education, and transportation. Truly a wonderful organization.

The members and guests of the Rotary Club of Long Branch were then blessed with the sweet melodic voice of Roger Hansen as he reminded us to sell tickets to our annual Clambake. The clambake is August 15th at The Long Branch Ice Boat and Yacht Club. Tickets can be purchesed at rclb.bigcartel.com and event details on our facebook page.

         We had cheesecake for dessert.
