💪 Help End Polio — Rotary’s #1 Priority
Rotary District 7410 proudly supports Rotary International’s mission to eradicate polio globally. We’re making progress—but the virus remains a threat.
🌍 Global & Pakistan Update (Mid‑2025)
- As of mid‑July 2025, there have been 18 wild poliovirus type 1 cases globally—14 in Pakistan and 4 in Afghanistan.
- Pakistan recorded 11 wild cases so far in 2025, including a recent case in Gilgit‑Baltistan—its first in seven years.
- Pakistan environmental surveillance detected WPV1 in 20 districts across 28 sewage samples (May–June 2025), highlighting gaps in vaccination coverage.
- In April campaigns, over 60,900 oral vaccine refusals were recorded (37,000 in Karachi alone).
- Saudi Arabia recently pledged $500 million to support eradication efforts targeting Pakistan and Afghanistan, helping move us toward ending wild polio by 2027.
Though cases are fewer than in 2024, we remain vulnerable—especially in areas with low immunization and rising vaccine hesitancy. Your involvement matters more than ever.
