Minneapolis South Rotary member and former District 5950 World Peace Fellowship chairman J. Michael Cavitt was recently recognized by the Nonviolent Peaceforce for mentoring returning peacekeepers in the process of applying for Rotary World Peace Fellowships. Michael was District 5950 Chairman of Rotary World Peace Fellowships for five years. He now assists returning  peacekeepers with writing application essays and finding Rotary Clubs around the country to nominate them for fellowships at Rotary Peace Centers around the world. Michael deeply understands that a peacemaker' ability to effectively tell his or her story allows that person to be a strong candidate for a Rotary Fellowship. Fellows are chosen from countries and cultures around the globe based on their ability to have a significant, positive impact on world peace and conflict resolution during their careers.

Muhamed Butera Mpira is Nonviolent Peaceforce’s first Rotary Peace Fellow.  He is currently studying at International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. He is a returned peacekeeper from NP Sri Lanka and served to help establish the frist team in what is now South Sudan. Muhamed is from Rwanda.
