This is the last year for our Fast For Hope program--but never fear! Other grants are still available.

2012 is the last year for our annual Fast For Hope (FFH) solicitation. For the uninitiated, Fast For Hope is a program in which clubs are asked to serve a smaller meal (or no meal at all) during a regular club meeting in February, then donate the money they would've spent on meals to a collective district effort. The money collected through FFH has been used to support matching Neighborhood Community Service (NCS) grants for local projects of District 5950 clubs. We thank all of our area clubs for their faithful support of this locally funded initiative.

The funds have always been collected in one year and given away in the next fiscal year; hence, even though we are not participating in Fast For Home this year, we needed to do something with funds raised last year. At its May meeting, the Local Grants Committee decided to offer a 3:1 matching opportunity to encourage clubs to begin new projects and use up our remaining 2011 Fast For Hope funds. Clubs responded positively: grant applications submitted were greater than the district's available funds.

The good news is that we have been successful in giving away all of the available funds in this, the final year for NCS grants.

The committee still has Community Assistance Program (CAP) funds available and looks forward to the many new possibilities of the Future Vision process, which begins July 1, 2013. Learn more about Future Vision here.
