On Aug. 22 the Sun-Post invited the community to hear U. S. Congressman Keith Ellison speak at the Sept. 1 Brooklyn Center Rotary Club meeting and then highlighted his remarks in their Sept. 9 edition.

Ellison encouraged Brooklyn Center and groups like its Rotary to continue their efforts to strengthen the community.

“When you build institutions like this, it doesn’t matter who’s a liberal and who’s a conservative,” said Ellison. “If you’re both part of a Rotary, you find the good in each other and you find a way to work together even though you may have differences of opinion. This is where we bring people together to build a social network that really helps to keep our community thriving.”
