"Handshake for Peace" is to celebrate the Centenary of ANZAC with our Turkish Friends.
RC Central Blue Mountains is installing flagpoles and a bronze sculpture of two hands shaking, cast by renowned sculptor Terrance Plowright, at the existing Lone Pine Memorial. Various representatives of Turkey, the Government, the ADF, RSL Rotary and many others will get together at the original and still living Lone Pine descendant tree, where the Hands will be unveiled, a tree planted and many other events. The ceremony is on the same day as the Istanbul Rotary Peace Conference is being held in Turkey.
