Organizers of the Rotary E-club of Western Canada, hosted by D5370 are excited about the progress made on the development of their club.Under the leadership of Special Representative and Chair, Elly Contreras, the club has developed an active website which will be ready at midnight on June 17th, to offer make ups for Rotarians across the world.

Since the club received Provisional status last October, they have heard of many Rotarians, who are anxious to see this club develop into the First E-club in Western Canada (possibly the first in Canada).

Currently the club has 13 prospective members, 10 of whom are former or current Rotarians. Provisional members are located in British Columbia; North West Territories, Alberta and one Canadian member located in Zambia.

The Interim Executive has been formed and members have been assigned roles to allow the club to advance to the next stage, which is preparing the website in such way, that it offers programs for make up from outside the club.
Organizers of the club qualify for attendance for the hours they put in to help prepare the website, attending Webinars on E-clubs and Clubrunner, completing assignments and for the many on-line voice meetings they have conducted to discuss their goals and vision.

The idea of an E-club is to conduct their weekly business on line, through assignments and participation in various activities. Although the human touch and fellowship is not there on a weekly basis, it will allow members to be actively involved in Rotary at any time of the day, any day of the week. Whether they are in London, England at 2 am in Pyjamas with milk and cookies or in Mexico at 5 pm in their beach chair with a glass of wine in hand. They choose the time and the day of the week for attendance. Their clubhouse is open  24/7.

In the near future, the membership will decide on what projects they will be involved in, both at International and Community level. There will naturally be participation in Polio plus and other RI Foundation programs. Even participation in Youth Exchange is possible. For those who travel in a fellow member’s area, there are plans for face to face visits. The members are also encouraged to attend a District Conference  in their area.

You are invited to visit us on Facebook and our website. Comment, sign up for the weekly bulletin and LIKE.  We will be delighted to feature you as our weekly program.
