As February comes to a close, I'd like to thank everyone for their attendance at the last District Meeting.  I'm sure you will all find the content helpful in regards to helping get your Club's work seen in your community. 
 
Please explore the below events the district has going on- District Conference, RYLA, PETS, Champions of Peace and International Service Committee.  Hardworking Rotarians are bringing these events/ opportunities to you and I'd like you all to take the time to see how you can help our district.

Ryla information
 
1. We are bringing it back to a college setting!  The program will be held at Caldwell University in Bloomfield, NJ which is a local institution that fosters youth leadership and community service!
 
2. The dates will be: 21-24 June! The program will begin at 3:00pm Friday the 21st of June and conclude at 8:00pm Monday the 24th of June.  Please ensure that all students are dropped off no later than 4:00pm on the first day.
 
3. The updated Rotarian Handbook (which includes a sample interview/application form as well as the registration form) is attached and we welcome your questions.  Please contact us at ryladistrict7490@gmail.com or at soniaroman1313@gmail.com
 
4. We are so proud to share that our negotiation efforts have paid off!  The price per student will be $250...approximately half of what it has been in the past!
 
5. As always, we encourage you - our Rotary Club reps and our Interact Advisors - to work with school administrators to select at least one worthy young lady and one worthy young man to attend this leadership program.
 
6. Last, but certainly not least...each student MUST be interviewed in order to attend the RYLA program.  Please note that interviews have always been expected, but now they are mandatory.  Each student/parent will be given

WHAT IS A DISTRICT INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECT?
 
  • Must have a Rotary host club in another country as a partner
  • Fit into one of Rotary International seven areas of focus: Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development and Support the Environment
  • Must be a sustainable project
  • Participation with other Clubs in the District recommended
Don't delay - your club's Champions of Peace nomination is due
Is there a Champion of Peace in your community? Click below to nominate them!
 
Award nomination criteria: Anyone 10 years and older can be nominated if you believe they have made a difference in their community. Each club may present two nominees who are non-Rotarians and are not previous Champions of Peace.
