On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Carl LoBue, Senior Research Scientist with the Nature Conservancy on Long Island, will speak at the Rotary Club of Southold on the subject of Long Island’s and the North Fork’s concerns with excess nitrogen and the resulting problems from our wastewater affecting our fresh water. As you well know, this is an item of great concern.

The talk will be held at 7:30 PM at the Soundview Restaurant (Route 58, Greenport) and will start after dinner which Southold Rotary will consider as its regular meeting. The Audubon Society members also will be attending. In addition, we expect the Town supervisor and several politicians/legislators who have expressed interest to attend.

Non-Southold Rotarians have two choices: (1) All may attend the dinner (@$25) which starts at 6:30 PM, followed by the program, or (2) they may arrive a bit before the program's scheduled time (7:30 PM) and attend just the program at no charge.

Everyone interested is welcome to attend the event - but it would be helpful if we can let the Soundview's people know how many are attending the dinner portion. So, please call Jo Pettit at 631-735-9061 or Dr. Bill Zitek at 631-749-2766 to register.
