Dandiya is the traditional dance form of Gujarat, India , performed in honour of goddess Durga. It is the featured dance of Navratri festival & is associated Krishna & Radha . Its becoming increasingly popular in countries with larger Gujarati communities including Canada , the United Kingdom & the United States of America. The sticks (dandiyas) of the dance represent the swords of Durga. The women wear traditional colorful dresses dazzling with mirror work and heavy jewellery. Garba is performed before Aarti (worshipping ritual) and Dandiya is performed after it, as a part of merriment.
