Membership Strategy in Action | ||
Recognizing local leaders while increasing membership. Every year the Rotary Club of Shallotte in North Carolina, USA, hosts the Business Leaders Luncheon, an invitation-only event to recognize local professionals for their hard work and contribution to the community. “This is an opportunity for these busy professionals to see the club firsthand,” says Doug Terhune, membership chair. And by conducting club business during the luncheon, members remove the perceived “secrecy” that can sometimes surround club meetings. Around 20 percent of attendees ask about membership and 10 to 15 percent express interest in joining. The event has also increased donations to the club’s annual fundraiser. We’d love to hear from you! Tell us what your club is doing to strengthen membership in the Membership Best Practices discussion group.
