Rotarians from around the United States and Canada will come to Houston on August 8-9 to hear about the latest Rotary activities in Russia.  This meeting is sponsored by the United States-Russia Inter-Country Committee and hosted by Rotary District 5890.  The Rotary in Russia Conference will be held on August 8-9, 2015 at the Houston Hilton North, located close to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.  The conference fee of $150, received and paid before July 15, covers administrative costs of the conference and five meals beginning with Saturday breakfast.  Conference registration received after July 15 will be $180. Cost of the hotel is $89 per night for two days before, during and after the conference for those who want to make a little vacation out of their stay.

An announcement of the meeting has been sent to all current Rotary District Governors-Elect in the United States.  Governors are invited to come or send a district representative to the meeting and hear about the progress Rotary has made since the first Rotary Clubs were chartered in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1990.

A highlight of the two day conference will be a presentation by the first ICC Friendship Exchange to Russia since the organization was chartered in 2007 at Rotary Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.  Carmen Cuneo, Treasurer of District 5890, is one of the team members that will visit 6 cities in western Russia’s District 2220 from May 6-25, 2015: Simferopol in the Crimea, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Moscow and Saint Petersburg.  Carmen will represent District 5890 at an event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Rotary in Russia. Rotarians in District 5890 are encouraged to attend this conference to hear about the opportunities to develop relationships with one or more of the 80 Rotary Clubs in Russia.

Ms. Evgenia Terekhova, Immediate Past District Governor of Rotary District 2225 in Russia has accepted an invitation to be the Keynote Speaker at the conference.  She will bring the latest information on the Rotary Clubs in Districts 2220 and 2225.  This conference should be a “do not miss event” for any District interested in any activities with Rotary in Russia.

The US-Russia ICC is made up of 12 member Rotary Districts from Russia, Canada and the United States.  Goals of the organization include helping young Rotary clubs in Russia to strengthen and forge partnerships with Rotary Districts in the ICC.  These partnerships will promote Youth Exchanges between the two countries, professional and friendship exchanges, and work on joint Rotary projects.
