The International Conventions is just around the corner May 6-9, 2012. The International Convention is a great opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians, learn about ongoing projects, and see how Rotary is making a tremendous impact around the world. Join the District 5890 group organized by Bob Gebhard for an incredible experience.

The International Conventions is just around the corner May 6-9, 2012. The International Convention is a great opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians, learn about ongoing projects, and see how Rotary is making a tremendous impact around the world.

Remember, District 5890 will be hosting this year's Cowboy Dinner Cruise on May 6, so make plans to participate.  Click on Cowboy Dinner Cruise for more information and to purchase tickets.

Some of you have registered and some have not. As of September 20th there were  just 5,000 Rotarians around the world who have registered, with 18 coming from our district. We have more Rotarians from District 5890 registered than any other district in our Zone. Thank you to those who have already registered, and to those who have not registered please do so as soon as possible. Remember December 1, 2011 the price goes up for registration. If you are planning to attend let me know and I will add you to the list to receive information on District 5890 events during the conference.

I have been working to find a pre or post tour that we could as a group participate in. There are two tours that I would suggest that can be found at this link, Bob's Tour Recommendations . They are both 3 night 4 day tours, and they include round-trip air fare from LA or San Francisco to Bangkok either through Beijing or Hong Kong. The tour does not include the hotel in Bangkok. The tour prices are between $1,870 for first class hotel and $2,050 for a Deluxe hotel. The air fare from Houston would be an additional $365 to $490 a piece. The tour company is Pacific Holiday tours and their website is www.pacificetoursinc.com. Cecile Schutter said this was a good agency and the tours were well priced.

As far as hotels in Bangkok, I would like to recommend that we stay at one of the  following hotels so we can be together as a group:
1.      JW Marriott (several of us have registered at this hotel)
2.      Le Merdien Bangkok
3.      Mandarin Oriental Bangkok
4.      Sukothai Hotel Bangkok

Please share this information with anyone you know may be interested in going to Bangkok. In addition please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Please let me know which tour option you would prefer:

1. Beijing, China
2. Hong Kong
3. Other

Thanks to all of you for all you do for Rotary. Please let me know as soon as possible which is your preference so I can begin setting up a tour or tours.
