The District 5890 Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholarships Committee conducted interviews on Saturday, November 8, to select outbound scholars for the 2015-16 academic year.

This year, there were 6 applications interviewed and the committee selected the following 3 candidates to submit their applications to The Rotary Foundation from District 5890:

            Jennifer Gueler (RC of River Oaks)

                        Area of Focus:  Maternal and Child Health

            Study Institution:  The University College of London, Institute of Child Health

                        Academic Program: Master of Science–Child and Adolescent Mental Health Management

            Sean Smith (RC of Memorial-Spring Branch)

                        Area of Focus:  Water and Sanitation

                        Study Institution:  Catholic University of Valparaiso (Chile)

                        Academic Program:  Biochemical Engineering (Doctoral Research)

            Pooja Yasantharao (RC of West U)

                        Area of Focus:  Disease Prevention and Treatment

                        Study Institution:  Cambridge University

                        Academic Program:  Master of Philosophy in Biochemistry

It is always a pleasure to meet these fine young men and women, and the district committee would like to thank those Rotarians who took the time to identify and submit potential candidates for this very worthwhile program.  The quality of all of the students was truly exceptional and all of those interviewed would have been outstanding representatives of our district.
