Help us clean "Rotary Centennial Grove" in Hermann Park with our Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary District Governors!

Come help our District 5890 Interact, Rotaract and Rotary District Governors clean "Rotary Centennial Park" in Hermann Park!  This is a great Family of Rotary event...so bring your family & friends, lawn chairs, gardening gloves, Frisbees, and picnic blankets.  We'll work a couple of hours...enjoy a pizza lunch...and then you can enjoy the park!  A photo of Rotary Centennial Grove is included in Hermann Park's "First 100 Years" website. This is a FREE event...and we'll provide pizza for lunch...but please RSVP by May 7th (Email Tommie Buscemi at Tommie5890@SuddenLink.Net) so we can order enough pizza!

What is Rotary Centennial Grove?  To celebrate Rotary's 100th Anniversary during the 2004-2005 Rotary year, the "Rotary Centennial Grove" project was funded by District 5890 Rotary clubs to beautify the picnic area near the "Buddy Carruth Playground for All Children."  The $100,000 Rotary project funded the planting of new trees, installation of new picnic tables, lighting fixtures, and newly designed trash receptacles.

This District 5890 “Family of Rotary” event has the tradition of being a fun way to get to know your Family of Rotary…Interactors, Rotaractors, Rotarians, Rotary Youth Exchange Students, ROTEX members, Rotary Foundation Alumni, Rotary Foundation Global Grant/Ambassadorial Scholars, plus their families & friends from all over District 5890.  Under the direction of the Hermann Park Conservancy staff, we will perform light gardening tasks in and around the Rotary Centennial Grove.

One of Rotary's Partners is Youth Service America (YSA), and we have registered this event as a Global Youth Service Day event.

Where's Rotary Centennial Grove located inside Hermann Park?  It's near the corner of Fannin Street and Cambridge Street (across from the Hermann Hospital Parking Garage).  Park in the Houston Zoo main parking lot (it fills up fast on the weekends, so arrive early).  As you walk towards the Zoo entrance, you'll see McGovern Lake on the right.  Take the walkway that is between McGovern Lake and the Houston Zoo.  Follow that walkway alongside McGovern Lake towards the "Buddy Carruth Playground For All Children" which is near "Bob's Fishing Pier".  Look for the Rotary an Interact signs in the Lowe Pavilion on the left.  The Buscemi's cell number is (713)598-7129.
