District 5370 is officially inviting nominations for District Governor 2029–2030—whether you see leadership potential in a fellow Rotarian or are ready to explore the role yourself, join an upcoming Curiosity Session to learn more before the December 3 deadline.
The selection process for District Governor 2029–2030 is officially underway, and we are inviting clubs and Rotarians throughout District 5370 to help us identify our future District Governor.  Serving as District Governor is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference beyond your own club—to connect with Rotarians throughout our District, strengthen clubs, develop future leaders, and help advance Rotary's impact in our communities and around the world.

Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for Rotarians who are passionate about service, believe in the potential of our clubs and members, and are willing to bring their experience, ideas, and leadership to the District.  Candidates must meet Rotary International's eligibility requirements, including:
  • Being a member in good standing of a functioning Rotary club in the District.
  • Having served a full term as Club President.
  • Having completed at least seven years of Rotary membership by the time they take office as District Governor on July 1, 2029.
  • Demonstrating the willingness, commitment, leadership ability, and understanding necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of District Governor.
  • The successful candidate must attend the 2029 Rotary International District Assembly, to be held January 2029.
Great leaders don't always put their own names forward. Sometimes it begins with another Rotarian seeing their potential and saying, “Have you ever thought about serving as District Governor?” Other times, a Rotarian recognizes that they may be ready for a new leadership opportunity and wants to learn more.  Whichever describes you, we want to make it easy to explore the opportunity.

Two Ways to Start the Conversation
I know a Rotarian who could be a great District Governor
If there is someone in your club you believe has the leadership, experience, commitment and passion to serve District 5370, start a conversation with them.
You can:
  • Encourage them to attend one of our DG Curiosity Sessions to learn more about the role.
  • Attend a Curiosity Session yourself so you better understand the opportunity and can have an informed conversation with them.
  • Share this email and the attached information with them.
  • If they are interested in proceeding, bring the potential nomination forward within your club. A formal nomination must ultimately be endorsed by the candidate's Rotary club through a club resolution. dgn-nommination-club-resolution…
You don't need to know everything about the role before encouraging someone. Sometimes the most important first step is simply letting a fellow Rotarian know that you see leadership potential in them.

I am interested in becoming District Governor
If you have wondered whether the District Governor role might be part of your Rotary journey, we encourage you to explore it.
Your first steps are to:
  • Review the qualifications and information included with this Call for Nominations.
  • Attend one of the DG Curiosity Sessions to learn about the role, the leadership journey, expectations and selection process.
  • Talk with your Club President or other club leaders about your interest.
  • If you decide to pursue the opportunity, ask your club to consider formally nominating and endorsing you.
A Rotarian cannot simply nominate themselves—the formal nomination comes from their Rotary club. The Club Resolution confirms that the club has voted to nominate and endorse its candidate. dgn-nomination-club-resolution…

DG Curiosity Sessions – Come and Explore
We will host two DG Curiosity Sessions before nominations close.
These will be informal conversations designed for both Rotarians considering the role themselves and Rotarians who want to learn more because they see leadership potential in someone else.

We'll talk about what a District Governor actually does, the time commitment, the leadership and training journey, the support available, what the experience can offer personally and professionally, eligibility requirements, and how the nomination and selection process works.
Most importantly, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

There is absolutely no obligation to seek nomination after attending. The purpose is simply to give Rotarians the information they need to decide whether this opportunity might be right for them—or for someone they know.
