Happy New Year, Rotary Family of District 5370!
As we step into January and begin a brand-new year, Dagmar and I extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones for a year filled with purpose, service, and impact. January is a time of renewal, reflection, and recommitment—and in Rotary, it is also Vocational Service Month, a cornerstone of who we are.
Vocational Service reminds us that our professions are powerful tools for good. It challenges us to uphold the highest ethical standards, guided by Rotary’s Four-Way Test, and to lead with integrity, honesty, and fairness in everything we do. It calls on us to recognize the dignity and value of all useful occupations, understanding that every job—when done ethically—contributes to the strength of our communities.
This month, I encourage you to reflect on how your vocational skills can create meaningful community impact. Whether it is through sharing classification talks, recognizing outstanding professionals with Vocational Service Awards, hosting vocational visits or skill-building workshops, or supporting career guidance and mentorship programs, each action strengthens Rotary’s commitment to service above self.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued dedication to End Polio Now, a cause that is deeply personal to me and central to Rotary’s legacy. As we move closer to a polio-free world, your support remains critical. I encourage Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors alike to show their commitment by signing up to volunteer for the End Polio Hockey Game as part of the Edmonton Oil Kings game in Edmonton on January 17, 2026. Together, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and take another powerful step toward making history.
As we begin this new year, let us recommit ourselves to using our professions to serve humanity, strengthening our communities, and standing united in our promise to end polio forever.
Thank you for all that you do. I look forward to an inspiring and impactful year ahead.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Ramesh Ferris
5370 District Governor
