March is Water, Sanitation & Hygeiene (WASH) Month!

Matters of clean water, sanitation and hygiene has been fundamental for Rotary, ever since the first Rotary service project of building outdoor, public latrines in Chicago, about 100 years ago. I think every Rotarian has either funded or hands on built a latrine. It is fundamental to the health and welfare of a society. As I sit at my desk, with bottled water labelled “Pure Life” in front of me, I take much for granted.

Do we care for our lakes and streams and watersheds?

Do we teach people, young and old about what may, and what may not go down the drain in our homes?

What Is your Rotary Club doing to focus on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in March 2025?

Clean water, sanitation and good hygiene is a basic human right. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives. Rotary members integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education projects. When children learn about disease transmission and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. And they can take those lessons home to their families, expanding our impact.

There is a Rotary Action Group, or “RAG” focused on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene issues.

Do you have a project in mind? Or just want to learn more about this area?

Consider this group as your key resource.
