PETAWAWA REMEMBRANCE DAY HONOUR OUR VETERANS BANNER PROGRAM
The Petawawa Rotary Club in cooperation with The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517, Garrison Petawawa, and the Town of Petawawa are proud to present the Honour Our Veterans Banner Program. This program has been designed to create a lasting legacy of remembrance within our community that will enable the Town of Petawawa and its residents to pay tribute to all veterans and active service members of the Canadian Armed Forces. This “Honour Our Veterans Banner Program” will be an ongoing, annual event that will provide an opportunity to recognize all past and present military units that once operated or are presently operating on Garrison Petawawa.
Sponsorship opportunities for this program were made available to any individual member of the public, local group, local business, or association wishing to honour a unit. The Honour Our Veterans Banner Program was funded entirely through direct sponsorship of individual banners. The cost to sponsor a banner was $200.00.
Each Honour our Veteran Banner will be displayed on lamp posts in Petawawa between early October and mid-November each year, as a means to pay tribute to our veterans and active service members. Through the display of the banners, we hope to engage the community in honouring the members of our armed forces through an initiative that will ensure continued recognition and respect throughout future generations.
A huge thanks goes out to: - Members of the Rotary Club of Petawawa for spearheading this initiative - The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517 for all of their support - Town of Petawawa Council for supporting the project - Jordan Durocher and Mark Reinert and their team at Community Services for their support in raising the banners - MWO Ellsworth and Captain Groom of 4 CDSB Ops Services on Garrison Petawawa for their valuable assistance, - WO Sean Chase of the 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, Ainsley Greenfield of the Base Museum, and Major O’Connor of the Canadian Armed Forces Directorate of Heritage and History who all assisted in completing the historical research on the past and present units that served or are serving on garrison Petawawa - Lisa Twomey of Creative Spark who designed the banners. - Madison Reinert for the webpage design - And a huge thanks to all the individuals, groups, and local businesses that sponsored a banner. If you would like to sponsor one of the remaining banners, please contact Gary Serviss at garyserviss10@gmail.com. A banner sponsorship costs $200.00 payable to the Rotary Club of Petawawa. We appreciate your support.
The Honour Our Veterans Banner Program is our way of demonstrating continued recognition and respect for all that our veterans and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces have done, and continue to do, in order to maintain our freedom.
