Introducing Valerie (Val) Gonzalez Quinteros and Kaleb Wayt, Orrville Rotary's committed RYLA 2024 candidates.Future Leaders To Attend RYLA
Recently selected by OHS staff, Kaleb Wayt and Valerie (Val) Gonzalez Quinteras will be joining approximately 100 outstanding high school juniors from Rotary District 6650 's Orrville and other northeast Ohio Rotary clubs for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) weekend in Canfield, Ohio in early February.
In an informal atmosphere under the tutelage of adult role models who are active in their professional communities, students will participate in a challenging program of leadership training, discussions, inspirational addresses and social activities designed to enhance attendees' personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship.
Begun in Australia in 1959, the RYLA program gradually grew throughout Rotary districts and in 1971 RYLA was adopted as an official program of Rotary International. For many years Orrville Rotary has partnered with OHS staff members to identify and select local students who have demonstrated leadership skills or show the potential to be leaders. Orrville Rotary's support gives these students the opportunity to explore and develop those skills with other high school juniors with similar capabilities. We wish Kaleb and Jen much success and rewards as they attend and embrace their forthcoming RYLA weekend!
