Let the plate-loading begin!
With a program validating the old YMCA caricature of "not just a gym and swim", speaker Rotarian Lindsey Baumgartner gave a broad overview of current programs offered at our Orrville branch of the YMCA of Wayne County. Baumgartner, an OHS alumni and 2016 Baldwin Wallace College graduate, serves as Associate Branch Director for the Orrville Y. With its service mission of providing youth development, healthy living and social responsibility the branch recently received the Wayne County Community Foundation's 2023 Worthy Works award. Supported annually by agency grants from Orrville Area United Way (OAUW), local fundraisers, Y memberships and other donations. Service topics discussed by Baumgartner included availability of childcare, numerous fitness programs, senior social group, varied volunteer opportunities, Orrville Camp possibilities, E-sports video league, pool accessibility, activities and safety training, just to name a few. At the close of her presentation, Baumgartner extended profuse gratitude to the YMCA board of directors, facility staff and valued Y volunteers, all vital to the success of the Orrville YMCA branch. NOTE: Prior to the speaker presentation, club members enjoyed a "picnic in the park" in the Orrville Rotary Club pavilion. Kudos to the grill masters and members who provided the beef, beans, buns, dogs, sides and dessert for a delicious and hearty summertime lunch.
