Tammy Koleski, along with her sister Pam, saw a need in the community and a combined list of skills they possessed, and knew they had to do something about it. They saw some great deals in local stores to purchase shirts at $0.75, but their value was $50.00 retail. Tammy quickly made a phone call to an educator to see if they would be interested in them for their students in need. That teacher was adamant about how helpful that would be, and the rest is history.
Since that point in time, the need and the skills only grew, and they created a non-profit organization called Wee Care Closet. The two sisters share the responsibilities, all on volunteer time, and even at their own expense at times. Pam is in charge of the shopping and finding the deals, while Tammy is in charge of making connections with schools, bookkeeping, and sometimes delivery with the occasional shopping trip. During those trips, they look for everything from clothing items, to toiletries and suitcases, and everything in between. Anything they believe is a good deal, and is essential to the life of the child.
In just three short years, they have hosted three fundraisers and in 2024 were able to bring in $12,500 to support what they do. They are so proud of their ability to be frugal and Tammy quotes "we will NEVER pay full price for anything!" Friends, family, and locals soon realized how important their work was becoming and wanted to help out. Before they knew it, they were receiving phone calls on deals people found, donations to help out, and more! Tammy's favorite thing to say is "Buy Them All", because when you find a deal that's too good to pass up, that's what you do.
