Today Orrville Rotary continued a long tradition of giving back to the community we serve. Each Orrville Rotarian is part of an elite Every Rotarian Every Year group. Each member contributes at least $100 to the Rotary International Foundation. After three years of investing, half of those funds are returned to our area Rotary District 6650 to be dispersed to clubs for community projects.
The Rotary Foundation is considered a 4 Star Charity by Charity Navigator and has in its recent past been judged as the best Charity in America due to its fiscal stewardship and administration. At present our club has pledged $50,000 to the Viola Startzman Clinic to provide health and dental services for low income and under insured area residents at the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club. Today Lynn Horner, Orrville Rotary Foundation Chair, was pleased to present another installment of that pledge to Jaime Parsons, Executive Director of the Viola Startzman Clinic and Jourdan Brown, Dental Clinic Coordinator. The $3150 donation from this year’s district grant will provide a portable medical air compressor that will power dental tools as well as provide irrigation and suction for procedures. Another larger installment is planned for after the first of the year. Previously the Orrville Rotary Club had given $50,000 for the Rails To Trails Orrville Trail Head. Our Rotarians live the motto Service Above Self.
