Nonya Wenger and Rotarians gathering at the Rotary Pavilion Helping People Change Direction
On Tuesday June 13th, Rotarians gathered at the Rotary Pavilion in Orr Park to have their weekly meeting and hear about OneEighty. OneEighty's mission is seen in the title above, but to break it down, they see themselves as advocates, hope providers, recovery warriors, and community leaders. The organization offers trauma-informed care, preventative tools, new direction, motivation, advocacy, and support for many different struggles. Some of those include domestic violence, addiction, Sexual assault, mental health counseling, Housing Services and so much more!
Nonya Wenger, Residential Peer Recovery Manager, talked to us about her past, her current job duties, and more about what OneEighty does for our community. In Orrville, Turning Point Coalition is a volunteer organization created in 2005 as a branch off of OneEighty. This organization supports healthy community events, talks about drug and alcohol problems and how to combat them, and supports the RAPA club at the high school. RAPA stands for Riders Are Peer Advocates and is a group of students directly creating change in their schools by providing safe spaces, healthy activities, and so much more.
