Rotary Celebrates 100 years in the Orrville Community!
On Tuesday May 23rd, 2023 the Orrville Rotary Club celebrated 100 years of service at Trinity United Methodist Church. The celebration consisted of a wonderful meal, a proclamation made by Mayor Handwerk, a document presented to the club by Rotary District Governor Michelle Charles, and the highlight of the evening our Master of Ceremonies - Bryan Fetty (past Orrville resident and Rotarian.)
Rotarians gathered together for the evening which was full of rich history, laughter, and a night to remember. Dinner was provided by Village Catering and followed by a lovely cake decorated for the celebration. Guests were given time to walk down memory lane and look through items from the 1920's up and until now. Items like photos, attendance books, wheels to encourage fundraising and history of the club, and so much more.
Bryan Fetty shared many fun and interesting moments from his time in the Orrville Rotary club. Starting off with some lighthearted fun to bring the club together, he led a few rounds of "Table Aerobics" to show how much we all really have in common. Topics from Happy Bucks/Darn It Dollars, to past stories of band-aids in pancake batter and picking up trash on 57 together. He even blessed the group with a lovely rendition of a past Rotary song which many clubs have ceased adding to their weekly meetings. Bryan finished off by opening a time capsule put together in the early 2000's full of memories and fun items alike! Some of the items consisted of a shirt from the Firecracker 5K, some VHS tapes, a Smucker's tin, and more.
The evening was a lovely celebration of a club that has done so much for the community and brought so many people together who want to make a change! Thank you to the committee that put together the entire event; Wilma Raynor, Rick Corfman, Dave McPeek, and Amy Mast. Keep your eyes open for some updates coming soon on a Rotary Centennial Project right here in Orrville!
