A Recognition of Excellence

A multi-decades, time-honored local club tradition has been the bestowing the distinction of Rotarian of the Year upon a member who, for the past year, has exemplified Rotary International's worldwide motto of Service Above Self.  This recognition has recently been awarded to Lindsey (Steiner) Baumgartner. A sampling of club members' nomination forms included the following about Lindsey:  "Readily volunteers to help with projects; always shares great input; has tremendous ideas and follows through with tasks; brings positive energy to the meetings; does a superb job with our publicity and social media; her enthusiasm is contagious; displays the 'can do' spirit of Rotary." An Orrville Rotarian since March 2020, a 2012 Orrville High School graduate and 2016 Baldwin Wallace University grad, Lindsey is deeply committed to her hometown. She serves Orrville Rotary as a board member-at-large; is the club's public relations committee chair; and chairs its membership development and retention committee. Within her community, Lindsey attended Leadership Orrville's program and is a current member of Turning Point Coalition, Growing Health Habits as well as the Wayne Senior Services Network.  Lindsey can also be found volunteering at Orrville's Friendship Meals and Orrville Area United Way as needed; and teaching craft classes at Orrville Public Library.  When asked about her "spare time" activities and likes, Lindsey's smile broadened - stating that she enjoys spending time with hubby, Matt, and their dogs Leo and Ellie; being outdoors (she's also a plant mom), and embraces spending quality time with her extended family and friends. As the interview ended, Lindsey graciously affirmed that she was "given local friendships and relationships that she never would have had but for her being a part of Rotary".  Congratulations, Lindsey, on your well-deserved Orrville Rotary Club honor!
