RYLA 2023 candidates OHS Red Rider junior students Andy Zhang and Alexandra (Jen) ChanthesengRecently selected by OHS staff, Alexandra (Jen) Chantheseng and Andy Zhang will be joining approximately 100 outstanding high school juniors from District 6650 northeast Ohio Rotary clubs for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) weekend in Canfield, OH in late February 2023. In an informal atmosphere under the tutelage of adult role models who are active in their professional community, students will participate in a challenging program of leadership training, discussions, inspirational addresses and social activities designed to enhance attendees' personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship. Begun in Australia in 1959, the RYLA program gradually grew throughout Rotary districts and in 1971 RYLA was adopted as an official program of Rotary International. For many years Orrville Rotary has gratefully partnered with OHS staff to identify and select local outstanding students to participate in the RYLA conferences. We wish Andy and Jen much success and rewards as they attend, explore and embrace their forthcoming RYLA weekend!
