Displays of hope, comfort and community
As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, our world, our country and our communities  are living in a time like no other. Amid the fears and uncertainty of the future, citizens long for a sense of comfort, reassurance and safety during this period of crisis.
Practicing Rotary's motto of Service Above Self, Orrville Rotarians sensed the need to reassure our citizens that we are all in this together, that we are America strong, and Orrville is as one during this significantly unprecedented situation. For three painstaking days, six teams of various Rotarian family members unselfishly took on the early and previously unscheduled task of installing more than 550 American flags to its subscribers.  The undertaking received a response from subscriber Patty Alioto stating "Amazing! Right now everybody needs to come together. The timing (of flag installation) couldn't be better - that Rotary took it upon themselves at a time that was not regularly scheduled." Subscriber Nadine Landaw responded, "Rotary stepped up, as they always do, showing community support.". Mayor Dave Handwerk to Rotary volunteers as his flag was being set: "Thank you, thank you, thank you for what Rotary is doing!".
From Orrville Rotary Club to our supportive friends, families, neighbors and businesses - stay well. We will come out on the other side of this critical circumstance, hopefully ever more united as members of this great city.
