Thanks to Dave Speicher, Supervisor of Sports and Wellness Population Health and Weight Management for Aultman Sports and Wellness, the Orrville Rotary Club is well versed on all our local Aultman Hospital has to offer! From nutrition to fitness, to sport specific training, they have it all and the perfect staff to do it.
Dave is in charge of Aultman Orrville Sports and Wellness on 365 S. Crownhill Rd. here in Orrville where Exercise Specialists, Nutrition Educators, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and Nurses come together to provide a high level of care for patients and members. They offer programming for patients that need physical therapy, cardiac rehab, or weight management. But, they also challenge local athletes through testing and training during and after their sports seasons. Something Dave shared is that they work hard to be a progressive facility. In his terms, they are constantly challenging their patients by changing up their workouts and never allowing them to get "too comfortable." Some of the positive outcomes they are seeing in their patients are loss in fat mass, gain in muscle mass, a decrease in their metabolic age, increased energy, and the ability to develop a long lasting behavior change.
In 2022 they completed a Community Health Needs Assessment to really hone in on what the Orrville community wanted and needed. Some of the topics they wanted to see programming on is mental health, substance abuse, and unhealthy behaviors like obesity, cardio health, and more. The good news is they are already working to fight those issues through their Aultman Ambassador Program within Stark and Wayne County schools, as well as through Growing Healthy Habits in the Orrville and surrounding area.
