Under a cloudless blue sky and dappled sunlight through trees surrounding Orr Park's Rotary pavilion, Justin Haislip gregariously shared his leisure-time hobby of camping, hiking and backpacking. Accompanied by friends of like mind since 2010 and periodically with sons Jaden and Jonah, Haislip learned to "put everything on your back and move forward". Our meeting presenter's show-and-tell involved sharing the 30-35 pound contents of his backpack gear of clothing and foot wear; food and water; health, hygiene and emergency items; tools and repair necessities; personal items; as well as backpacking "extras". With excursions usually lasting three days, over the years Haislip has camped and/or hiked in Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky as well as logging 126 miles on parts of the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina, Tennessee, Massachusetts and Maine. In his presentation closing remarks, Haislip shared that among other positives, he's found backpacking to be a confidence builder, enhances his ability to process thoughts, brings him closer to nature in all facets, as well as affording him the opportunities of camaraderie the sports provide.  Also enjoying Justin's presentation was Dawn Cazzolli, guest of Orrville Rotary and a prospective member.
