"When you need care close to home....we've got you." reads the catchphrase of Aultman Orrville Hospital and expanded upon by meeting presenter Kristen Beichler, Director of the Emergency Department at AOH since 2018. With more than 17 years experience at an emergency nurse, Beichler is the Stroke Program Director and is tasked with preparing the hospital to achieve Stroke Ready Certification at AOH. Born in Orrville and a 2000 OHS graduate, our speaker shared that she is passionate about the care the Orrville community receives, which is also the place where she lives and is raising her children. The focus of Beichler's presentation centered on educating Rotarians about the warning signs of stroke and how to respond should he/she might be experiencing a stroke. and explained possible symptoms and risk factors associated with the possibility of a stroke occurrence. Our speaker stated that while strokes have no age limits, statistics have shown that 80% of strokes are preventable and treatable and gave examples of sudden signs and symptoms of a possible impending stroke. Our thanks to Kristen for sharing this valuable and informative presentation with us.
