The Jackson Township Rotary Foundation announced that W.R. “Tim” Timken, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and retired chairman of The Timken Company, and his wife Sue will serve as honorary chairpersons of the 3rd Annual Jackson Township Field of Honor / Field of Heroes.

The 2014 event will take place May 23-26, 2014 at the Jackson Township Safety Center, located at the corner of Wales Avenue and Fulton Drive in Massillon.

The annual Field of Honor / Field of Heroes weekend recognizes individuals who have made an impact on our community and our nation—members of the armed forces, veterans, first responders, teachers, coaches, medical professionals, family members and more.

Ambassador Timken served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2005 to 2009. He previously served The Timken Company as chairman of the board of directors, president and CEO.

“We are honored that Ambassador and Mrs. Timken have agreed to be the honorary chairpersons for our 2014 event,” said Jim Ondrus, president of the Rotary Club of Jackson Township.

“Their example of service and their passion for assisting American troops through the USO will help raise awareness of the Field of Honor / Field of Heroes and make it a fitting tribute to those individuals who have touched the lives of our community and our nation.”
