Eagle Wings is the very busy EarlyAct Club from Eamer’s Corners Public School with just under sixty active members.  Rotarian Sharon's experience as a participant at a National Immunization Day in India was met with great enthusiasm by the EarlyAct members.
During a recent visit at one of our meetings, River, a  member of the Eagle Wings eloquently expressed her joy in helping people with projects such as the care packages to Cameroon; the pizza party; the Shoe boxes to the 150 Students in Nunavut. Ms Cindy Esdale, the sponsoring teacher, said students had also participated in the Radiothon, a fund raiser for cancer research; a Food Drive; Socktober (140 socks collected). They have also raised funds and/or supplies for the local OSPCA and  Baldwin House, and participated in Abuse prevention, Anti Bullying and the Cornwall Nationals Recycling programs.

The highlight of the year has been the school’s "Care Packages for Kimmirut" campaign that collected more than 1,500 items, enough to provide decorated care packages to the entire staff and student body at the Qaqqalik School, a K-12 facility in the northern community of Kimmirut, Nunavut. Generosity and enthusiasm involved shipping over 22 large boxes  to the North. The shipping bill  turned out to be larger than expected so they are having a fund raiser at Boston Pizza on March 5th. Come out and see EarlyAct in action, the kids will be serving table and putting on a talent show. There will also be a silent Auction. Principal, Sylvia Speck, expressed her excitement with the program in the school. Our club presented a $300 cheque in support of the group.

Interact at Char-Lan District High School: Four students from the Char Lan HS Interact club spoke about their activities, including the $1000 that was raised for Polio; the Volley Ball tournament to raise money for a shelter box; an Easter Food Drive for Agape. Over the next few months they are working to recruit some younger students to carry on and do some fund raising to give the club seed money for next year. A cheque from our club was presented in support of their initiatives.
