Interact gets it on video -- interviewing Yellowknife Rotary president Jeromy Ball, as part of a project for the upcoming St. Pat's film festival.

They've only been around for a year, but the first Interact (International Action) club in the Northwest Territories has already won an award from the City of Yellowknife -- for collecting for recycling old cel phones and PDAs. The devices were sent South, and the money raised went to benefit homeless people in Yellowknife.

Interact is a service club for 14-18 year olds that is one of the strands of the Rotary International family. Clubs are required to do two projects a year. One is to assist the local community and one other to benefit the international community. Interact sponsored by the Rotary Club of Yellowknife, but Interact is self-guided and supported.

Other projects the hard-working Interact students have been up to include:

a) assisting the Yellowknife Rotary Club delivering Rotary roses on September 26

?b) representing themselves at the schools' Open House on October 2

?c) cleaning up the school's beverage containers weekly?

d) participating in Jerry Goebel's community building workshop October 21?

e) meeting weekly to plan community and international projects

?f) meeting with the Yellowknife Rotary Club President and District Governor?

g) planning and participating in the Club's charter night
