ROTARY CLUB OF YELLOWKNIFE
Weekly Newsletter – September 19

Greeting All Members!  Here’s what we have going on:

  • Our meeting this week is at the regular place, the Explorer Hotel – in “Kat” Room C
  • October 4 - Delivery date for Rotary Roses!   For tickets to sell, see your designated team captain or call Tim at 444-0085.  Please bring completed books to today's lunch meeting.  Based on what has been turned in so far we still have a long way to go and only 12 more days to sell.  All tickets must be turned in to Tim by 5pm on the 30th.  This will allow us time to sort the tickets for delivery on October 4th.  To order roses, call 920-ROSE (7673) or email roses@yellowkniferotary.ca
  • Anytime – Read What Rotarians Did to Help Put an End to Polio  - a great Globe and Mail article:  “About a quarter-century ago, Rotary International, a service club that now has 1.2 million members worldwide, decided that instead of only hosting lunches or building tennis courts, it wanted to take on a more serious, global challenge …”  (thanks for the article Garth!)
  • Soon - Dictionaries
  • The Executive meetings are moved to every second Wednesday.  The next four are at noon on Sept 25 at MacKay LLP, Oct 9 TBA, Oct 23 at MacKay LLP, and Nov 6 at NWTel.  All members are welcome to attend.
  • The Interact Club of Ecole St. Patrick High School meets (most) Wednesdays at noon. All Rotarians are welcome! Call Susan Huvenaars to confirm time and location 873-4888.
  • Chris Williams needs suggestions for Speakers – either a member of the community, a guest from out of town, or even yourself (for a classification talk or a topic of interest to Rotary)

If you have news or updates on a Rotary event, let me know.

Yours in Rotary,
