ROTARY CLUB OF YELLOWKNIFE
Weekly Newsletter – November 13

Greeting All Members!  Here’s what we have going on:
  • Our meeting this week is at the Top Knight
  • Nov 21 – Our Club planning wrap-up meeting in the evening. Hope to see lots of members out - this is where we are going to finalise our strategic planning and make decisions on future projects, including what Rotary club of YK will do to mark Canada's 150th birthday in 2017.
  • Dec 12 – Our AGM will take place. That meeting is when we elect the Executive for the next Rotary year, which begins July 1, 2014.  Members interested in joining the Board should talk to Emilie or Charles ASAP (the nominating committee).
  • October 24 was Polio Day.  Any member can make a donation on the RI website  www.rotary.org
  • We’ve had some anonymous donors to Polio Plus come forward!!!  Until Dec. 15, 2013 we can turn every dollar donated to Polio Plus into two matching streams; your donation and the anonymous matching donation, each being matched 1 to 6. (ie – your donation of $100 becomes $1,300).  After Dec. 15 it goes back to matching your dollars 1-6.
  • Nov 4 to 18 - On-line auction for the Rotary Club of Hay River Sunrise and the Hay River Hospital Foundation.  Because the auction is on-line bidders can be anywhere, so check it out. At www.HRHFauction.com.  For more information contact Peter Groenen in Hay River pgroenen@northwestel.net  (sponsorship info attached)
  • The Executive meetings are moved to every second Wednesday.  The next two are at noon on Nov 20 and Dec 4.  All members are welcome to attend.
  • The Interact Club of Ecole St. Patrick High School meets (most) Wednesdays at noon. All Rotarians are welcome! Call Susan Huvenaars to confirm time and location 873-4888.
  • Chris Williams needs suggestions for Speakers – either a member of the community, a guest from out of town, or even yourself (for a classification talk or a topic of interest to Rotary)
If you have news or updates on a Rotary event, let me know.
