ROTARY CLUB OF YELLOWKNIFE
Weekly Newsletter – December 17

Greeting All Members!  Here’s what we have going on:
  • This week’s luncheon is our Christmas Party - December 19 – Noon – Explorer Hotel (Kat B&C)
  • December 26 – Boxing Day – Meeting cancelled
  • Now - Philippines - Members have been enquiring about helping out with donations to the devastated areas of the Philippines.
    • Our club and the District respectfully suggest that any donation be directed to ShelterBox Canada or The Canadian Red Cross. Both are reputable charities with reach to the Philippines and the Canadian Government is matching these donations in a flow through basis. You will receive a tax deductible receipt from either organization.
    • Unfortunately The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is not setting up a Disaster Fund for this effort, so we are on our own as far as donations are concerned.
    • Our District will be sending $10,000 to the afflicted Rotary District in the Philippines later in December. This will help local Rotarians in the Philippines with rebuilding grants and will allow them to leverage our money through TRF when applying for grants.
