Greeting All Members!  Here’s what we have going on:
 
Weekly Meeting is at our usual place, the Explorer – Kat C
  • September 6 - 8th Annual First Air-Law Enforcement Torch Run Hercules Aircraft Pull  - A friendly competition between teams of 15 individuals (men, women or mixed) who must pull together in the ultimate challenge of pulling a plane that weighs over 90,000 lbs a distance of 15 feet in the fastest time possible. Trophies will be awarded to the top teams in each category. All members of participating teams will be entered into draws for a variety of prizes including a grand prize Trip for Two to Edmonton, courtesy of First Air. See bottom of this email for all the details
  • October 2-4 - iBelieve in the Power of Rotary, District 5370 Conference, Northlands Expo Centre, Edmonton, Alberta, SUSAN AGLUKARK is one of the guest speakers
  • November 6-17 – Rotary Friendship Exchange with Taiwan.  District 5370 to Taipei District 3480.  Contact Mavis at jacobs.mavis@gmail.com or 780-675-7118
  • Gary C. K. Huang, our Rotary International President for 2014-15 has chosen a unique theme and urges us all to Light Up Rotary in our clubs and communities. He is asking us to Light Up Rotary by sharing our service, strengthening our clubs and letting our light shine in our communities.
 
Seniors Bingo is run by Rotary Volunteers on Tuesday Nights at 7-8 PM. Our schedule is the months of February, April, June, August, October and December.  If you would like to participate, please contact Dale Crouch.
 
The Interact Club of Ecole St. Patrick High School meets (most) Wednesdays at noon. All Rotarians are welcome! Call Susan Huvenaars to confirm time and location 873-4888.
 
Chris Williams needs suggestions for Speakers – either a member of the community, a guest from out of town, or even yourself (for a classification talk or a topic of interest to Rotary)

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is holding the 8th Annual First Air-Law Enforcement Torch Run Hercules Aircraft Pull on Saturday, September 6, 2014.
 
 
 
 
What is the Challenge?
A friendly competition between teams of 15 individuals (men, women or mixed) who must pull together in the ultimate challenge of pulling a plane that weighs over 90,000 lbs a distance of 15 feet in the fastest time possible. Trophies will be awarded to the top teams in each category. All members of participating teams will be entered into draws for a variety of prizes including a grand prize Trip for Two to Edmonton, courtesy of First Air. Also, each team member will receive a bragging rights certificate.  How many people can say they've pulled a 90,000 lb plane?
 
Why do this?
The NT Law Enforcement Torch Run exists solely to fundraise for our NWT Special Olympics programs.  We are the major supporter of this cause.  Funds go towards athlete development and training, facility rentals, competitions and travel. We can't do it without your participation!
 
How to participate?
To register your team in this unique and friendly competition you must recruit 15 willing participants (men, women, mixed- (minimum of 6 women ) and raise a minimum of $375.00 per team or $25 per participant. We gratefully appreciate it if teams could raise more than the minimum
 
Roll up your sleeves and pull together for a great cause -
 Proceeds go to Special Olympics - Northwest Territories!
 
For information or to reserve your team spot, simply contact LETR-NT@hotmail.com REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6th, 2014.  The pull begins at 12:00 NOON
 
The Law Enforcement Torch Run – NT and Special Olympics – NT gratefully acknowledges the generous support of First Air.
 
Attached are registration packages, posters and donation sheets.  (tax receipts are provided for $25 donations or more)
 
Our online registration will be available in the near future and the info will be passed onto you at that time.
