I was selected to participate in an International Rotary Youth Exchange for 2017/2018, and will be moving to the Czech Republic in August of this year. I’ll be living with Rotary host families for a year, attending school and learning to speak Czech! As a participant in the exchange, I am encouraged to develop a service project, embracing the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.

Since I love music and am presently preparing for my Grade 10 piano exam, I have chosen to blend my Rotary service project with my love for music, and have planned the fundraiser “Boxes for Music.” This afternoon concert will be an hour or so of musical entertainment, from myself and several other YK student musicians. Admission is by donation, and all funds raised will be donated to “Shelterbox Canada,” a Rotary supported organization providing emergency shelter and vital supplies to communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis. I am very excited to be able to contribute to this organization; they do amazing work.

If you are able to attend, I would be honored. It’s Sunday, May 7th at 3 pm at the Anglican Church.
