It was an unusual year (see earlier posts for that information) and we understand if some of our regular customers just couldn't rationalize the cost increase. We hope we will be able to return to 'normal' pricing next year.

Rotary Wreaths 2022 Fundraising Campaign:

  • Yes, Yellowknife, there is a Rotary Wreaths campaign this year. But as with everything else in life, the wreaths will cost a bit more and the Club’s earnings in this key fundraiser will be reduced as well.
  • The Rotary Wreaths campaign has grown to be our Club’s largest annual fundraiser. It helps us do the work and provide the community service expected of Rotarians.
  • Our costs and prices have been steady for many years. Each year, we have sold out and subsequently increased our order the following year.
  • While we expected a cost increase from our Nova Scotia supplier this year, we did not expect the price to about double. Yes, double! But we did manage to negotiate that increase down a bit, but the cost is still much higher than in previous years.
  • So, we had to make a decision: cancel the popular program, disappoint our customers and lose proceeds for our programs; or find a way to move forward.
  • We decided we’ll go ahead and share the cost increases with our customers. We couldn’t disappoint our dedicated and valued regular customers — some who purchase six, eight, even a dozen wreaths for staff or clients — and we need to ensure we raise money to do the critical Club work in the community in 2023.
  • So, we are asking $70 a wreath, but they are still from our trusted supplier who has always provided a quality Balsam Fir wreath, shipped frozen, individually bagged and boxed with decorations ready to use.
  • We have a dedicated network of ticket sellers, who offer them for sale to co-workers and customers. A QR Code is on the poster, which takes the person to the sales order web page.
  • You will also see Club members selling tickets at Co-op on Nov. 6 and 12 and at other local events. We will be easily recognized in our fluorescent green ‘Rotarians at Work’ vests.
