This newly installed utility will allow users of the park to plug in as they play — or work, as our members often do.
Club member Chuck Tolley was enjoying the tranquil scenery at Rotary Centennial Waterfront Park the other day when he was shocked to see that a much desired electrical outlet box had been installed near the gazebos.
This is a powerful new utility for users of the park, which includes our Club during summer months. The availability of electricity will certainly allow us to amp up our meetings, as we can now have the option of using a portable public address system — especially when we have speakers making presentations.
Celestino Oh is installed as club President in July, as the new Past-President Wayne Guy offers congratulations.
It will also be useful during our annual executive changeovers, such as happened on July 8 this year. That’s when President-Elect Celestino Oh took over the helm from President Wayne Guy, both making remarks our members need to hear.
The juice will also come in handy as members do maintenance with power tools on the popular boardwalk we constructed over many years that stretches out into Yellowknife Bay. The park is the result of a successful partnership between Club and the City of Yellowknife.

Chuck says the power box is apparently connected by an underground cable to the power source on nearby School Draw Avenue.
“This is a wonderful addition to the park,” says Tolley, “and will certainly be put to good use by the public who regularly hold functions there.”
The Club thanks the City of Yellowknife for significantly improving the current user experience in Rotary Centennial Waterfront Park, situated in Chief Drygeese territory, the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
