Dancing With The Locals – 2012

On Friday, November 9^th the Plant City Rotary club held the 5^th annual Dancing With the Locals fundraiser. The event was held at the Trinkle Center on the H.C.C. Plant City campus. This fundraiser has local individuals competing in a 1 evening dance competition to raise money for charity. The couples receive dance instruction over the weeks leading up to the event. This year’s couples included:

Heather Coats and Alan Figga

Maribel Lorenzo and William Lasseter

Victoria and Kyle Garren

Angela and Mike Sessa

Lori Rogers and Michael Johnson

Tommy and Jennifer O’Neal

Gail Lyons and Larry Roth

Karen Fuentes and Eric Randall

And Clay and Caitlin Rollyson.

The Emcee and Hostess for the event were Gary and Tina Pike.

Judges included James Surrency, Natasha Davis and Tracey Walden.

In addition to the entertainment provided by the contestants, patrons were also treated to hors d’oeuvres, drinks and desserts. Money is raised through ticket sales, sponsorships and a silent auction. Contestants receive votes based on the amount of money they raise from individuals “voting” for them the night of the event as well as contributions and sponsorships they arrange in advance. A 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place award is given based on the total money raised by each couple. In addition, a Judge’s Choice Award is given based on the highest score received by the judges. While the scores were being tabulated, patrons were treated to a showcase dance by Susan Stanton and Stephen Poole.

The Judges Award went to Karen Fuentes and Eric Randall.

Third place was awarded to Gail Lyons and Larry Roth.

Second Place was awarded to Heather Coats and Alan Figga.

First Place was awarded to Clay and Caitlin Rollyson.

The event was once again a great success due to the hard work of many individuals, the sponsorship by many local businesses and the support of the individuals who attended the event. The Plant City Rotary Club would like to thank all those involved. The successes of this event (and that of the Wild Game Cookout in the spring) enable our club to continue to support many worthwhile local charities and respond to needs in our community, our nation and our world.
