2021 Installation and Awards Banquet
 
The Plant City Rotary Club recently held its Awards and Installation banquet at the Cleveland Heights country club.  It was a night of fun and fellowship.  It provided an opportunity to recognize members for an outstanding year as well as to install the officers and directors for the 2019-2020 Rotary year. 
After a social hour, the night started with a greeting from President John Haney and the traditional invocation, pledge, and song.

Following dinner, President John gave remarks regarding the successful year that we managed to have despite the global pandemic.  In a year filled with uncertainty, our club not only managed to hold Zoom meetings and in person meetings, but to hold 2 successful fundraisers that allowed us to continue our charitable efforts including our highly successful scholarship program.
 
The next item on the agenda was recognition of members who had perfect attendance at meetings.  Attendance pins were giving to the following members:
1 yr. – Bill Hughes, Karen Kerr; 2 yrs. – Tom Sparkman, Tamara Jemison, Shaun Bryant, Jana Butler; 3 yrs. – Shawn Jemison, Josh Jimenez; 6 yrs. – Kayla Drawdy, John Haney, Randy Larson, Doug Watson; 8 yrs. – James Boyd, Marty Clay, Jim Scott, Jodi Stevens; 11 yrs. – Charles Harris; 14 yrs. Tatyana Austin; 17 yrs. – Brian Griffin; 24 yrs. – Tom Schaub; 25 yrs. – Tim Kip; 27 yrs. – Tom Davis; 28 yrs. -  Dennis Digamon, James Surrency; 29 yrs. – Reggie Holt; 30 yrs. – Clayton Jenkins and 33 yrs. – Bill Wicker.
 
Next Clayton Jenkins was called up to present the Ideas In Action Award.  The award was presented to Doug Watson for his work reviving the Fall Couples cookout and using it as a fundraiser in a time when our other fundraisers had been cancelled by the pandemic.

Next President John called up this past year’s board of directors to thank them for their work this year.   Bill Hughes, Christine Miller, Tamara Jemison, Shaun Bryant,  Kayla Drawdy, Shawn Jemison, Bill Wicker, Josh Jiminez and Charles Harris.

As the awards continued, the next award was the Spirit of Service Award presented to Kayla Drawdy.

James Boyd was installed as this year’s President.  Next President James recognized outgoing President John Haney for his work this year.

James then addressed the club speaking of his strong ties to Rotary and his hopes for the coming year. 
 
After his remarks, the meeting was adjourned.
 
We are all looking forward to a great year under the leadership of President James and the newly installed Officers and Board.
