Our club’s participant in the 2019 World Affairs Seminar at Auburn University was Taryn Storter. She recently attended our club and spoke about her experience’s there. Here are her comments:
World Affairs camp was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Held at Auburn University, this special program gives students an inside look to the United Nations, as we had the opportunity to discuss prevalent issues facing our world. Each day we tackled tough topics, including Plastic in the Ocean, Sustainability, Arms Trafficking, and Humanitarian Aid. Throughout the week, we debated each problem from our country’s standpoint. As I was chosen to represent Kenya, I talked from the viewpoint of the government of that country. During the time at camp, every student was fully involved into the United Nations simulations. It was truly an amazing week and I am so thankful for Plant City Rotary for allowing me this opportunity.
