2019 Award and Installation Banquet
 
The Plant City Rotary Club recently held its Awards and Installation banquet at the Lone Palm Country Club.  It was a night of fun and fellowship. It provided an opportunity to recognize members for an outstanding year as well as to install the officers and directors for the 2019-2020 Rotary year.  After a social hour, the night started with a greeting from President Jodi Stevens and the traditional invocation, pledge and song.
 
 
 
                            
Following dinner President Jodi introduced P.C. Rotarian and Assistant District Governor Clayton Jenkins who presented two “Ideas in Action” Awards.  One was presented to Dr. Dennis Digamon for his work to complete multiple dental missions to the Philippines.
 
 
The second was presented to D.G. Nick Hall for his efforts to raise money with multiple cross country solo bicycle trips to raise money for Polio eradication.
 
 
Next Club Foundation chairman Tim Kip presented Paul Harris Fellows to Delores Digamon and John Haney.
 
 
Next the awards portion of the night began with President Jodi handing out of perfect attendance pins.  The following Rotarians were recognized for perfect attendance:

1 year- Shawn Jemison and Trey Stevens; 2 years- Josh Jimenez; 4 years- Kayla, Drawdy, John Haney, Randy Larson and Doug Watson; 6 years- Marty Clay, Jim Scott and Jodi Stevens; 9 years- Charles Harris; 12 years- Tatyana Austin and Billy Keel; 15 years Mike Arndt; 16 years Brian Griffin; 22 years- Tom Schaub, 23 years- Tim Kip; 25 years- Tom Davis; 26 years- Dennis Digamon and James Surrency; 27 years- Reggie Holt; 28 years- Clayton Jenkins; and 31 years- Bill Wicker
 
Next this year’s board was called up and each member presented with a gift from President Jodi with thanks for all the hard work and dedication this year,
 
 
 followed by recognition of the outgoing board members Brett Mueller, Clayton Jenkins and Brian Griffin
 
 
 
Outgoing officers were recognized and presented with plaques:

Treasurer Doug Watson
 
Our club had two very successful fundraisers this year.  The next item on the program was recognition of the chairmen of those two events.
Jodi Stevens and Doug Watson were recognized as the chairmen of the Dancing With the Locals fundraiser
 
 
and James Surrency and Brian Griffin were recognized as Chairmen of the Wild Game Cookout.
 
 
 
Next it was time for special awards.   First, Rising Star Awards were presented to Shawn Jemison and Trey Stevens in recognition of their enthusiasm, dedication and hard work as new club members.
 
 
Next, the Be The Inspiration Award was presented to Kayla Drawdy,
 
 
the Spirit of Service award was presented to Charles Harris,
 
 
and the President’s Award was presented to Bill Wicker.
 
 
The last special award was Rotarian of the Year.  This award goes to a club member that best exemplifies the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self!  This year’s recipient was certainly well deserving of the honor.   Our club took great joy in providing the Rotarian of the Year Award to Doug Watson!
 
 
Following the award portion of the evening, Outgoing President Jodi gave an address summarizing the year and thanking the club for all the work put forth this year.
 
 
The next item on the agenda was the installation of directors and officers.  President Jodi called on District Governor Nick Hall to handle the installation.
 
 
Before beginning the installation, DG Nick called up Clayton Jenkins and presented him with an award for outstanding service as Assistant District Governor.
 
 
Next, DG Nick called up incoming President Doug Watson and administered the oath of office.
 
 
DG Nick pointed out that as President, Doug follows a long line of the presidents who have come before to get the club to where it is today.  He then called on the former Club Presidents in attendance to come forward and be recognized.
 
 
The former presidents in attendance included Charles White- 79-80, Bob Roderick- 85-86, Bill Wicker- 96-97, Clayton Jenkins- 99-00, Tom Schaub- 00-01, Tim Kip- 02-03, Keith Smith- 11-12, Billy Keel- 12-13, Brian Griffin- 14-15, Charles Harris- 16-17, and Jodi Stevens- 18-19.
 
Next the incoming directors and officers came forward and were sworn in by D.G. Nick for the upcoming year.
 
 
After the officers were sworn in President Doug addressed the club and talked about plans for the upcoming year.
 
 
The last item of the night was recognition of outgoing President Jodi Stevens and presentation of the Past-President’s pin and plaque.
 
 
 
President Doug ended the evening by thanking everyone for attendance and dismissing the banquet.
