           Appreciation Day
Our club held its 3rd Annual Community Appreciation Day on Saturday August 4th at the Plant City Randy Larson Softball 4-Plex.  This event brings together our community, 1st responders from local law enforcement and fire rescue departments and various community organizations in a day of interaction and fun.  There were displays provided by first responders from many units of the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Dept. and the Plant City Police Department.  Plant City Fire Rescue Department had a display and provided a live demonstration of vehicle extrication techniques disassembling a vehicle provided by Brewington’s Towing.

Other organizations participating included Unity in the Community,  Plant City Boys and Girls Club, South Florida Baptist Hospital, Hook-A-Hero Foundation and others.  Fun for the kids included a Bungee Jump, Rock Wall and Bounce Houses.  There were lots of options for food including free hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn, and snow cones.  Many local businesses donated food and various school supplies.  We also donated a bag with school supplies to the first 500 children present.
This event is held as a thank you to first responders for all they day, a thank you to the Community for supporting our first responders and our club’s charitable efforts and as an opportunity for the community and first responders to have positive interactions.  In addition to many hard-working Plant City Rotarians, we had lots of volunteers form the Plant City interact club as well as many other volunteers.  Our sincere thanks for all those that helped make this event a success.
